My Weekly Parliamentary Update
🌹Celebrating One Year of Delivering for Britain 🌹
Today marks one year since Labour won the 2024 General Election and formed a government committed to national renewal. It’s a moment to reflect on what we’ve achieved together, and on the difference a Labour Government is making across Britain.
After 14 years of complete chaos, a crashed economy, decline and broken promises from the Conservatives, Labour promised to restore stability, rebuild our economy, and put working people first. One year on, we’re delivering on that promise.
Here are just some of the ways Labour in power is already making a real difference:
✅ Growing the Economy: We’re driving forward a serious, long-term industrial strategy. Investment is flowing into new industries. Apprenticeships and training opportunities are expanding, creating well-paid jobs for the future.
✅ Cutting NHS Waiting Lists: Our NHS is getting the biggest recruitment drive in its history. Thousands more staff are helping cut waiting times and deliver the care patients deserve.
✅ Rebuilding Public Services: From schools to local councils, Labour is getting the basics right. We're restoring respect for those who serve our communities, and working to make sure every child gets a great start in life.
✅ Making Communities Safer: Labour is putting neighbourhood policing back on our streets. Anti-social behaviour is being tackled head-on, with new powers and the officers to enforce them.
✅ Leading on Clean Energy: We’re laying the foundations for Great British Energy-a new, publicly owned clean power company-so we can cut bills, deliver energy security and fight climate change.
✅ Restoring Trust in Politics: No more Tory chaos. No more culture of scandal. We have a government focused on service and the country’s interests first.
This is just the start. In our first year, we’ve been laying the groundwork for a decade of national renewal-turning Britain around so working people have the security, prosperity, and hope they deserve.
🏆 Enfield North Wins
· School Rebuilding Programme: Chace Community School & St Ignatius College are set to benefit from Labour’s £2.4 billion-a-year plan to rebuild and modernise 500 schools across the country.
· Breakfast clubs: Carterhatch Infant School & St Matthew's CofE Primary School have received funding for a breakfast club.
· Free School Meals: At the start of 2026, more pupils in Enfield North will become eligible for free school meals due to an expanded funding offer.
· More Nursery Places for Our Community: The Department for Education announced that 300 schools across England will share £37 million in funding through the School-Based Nursery Grant. Ark John Keats Academy in Brimsdown and Honilands Primary School in Bullsmoor will receive funding, helping them to create more nursery places and better facilities for young children in our community.
· Increased Funds for Our Medical Centres: The Government’s new £102 million Primary Care Utilisation and Modernisation Fund will upgrade over a thousand GP surgeries across England including The Ordnance Unity Centre in Enfield North. This investment will help create more space to see patients, boost productivity, and improve care locally.
· Warm Homes Social Housing Fund National Scheme Challenge Fund: The Christian Action Housing Association in Enfield North is receiving £1 million. This funding will support vital improvements to local social housing, including better insulation, upgraded heating systems, and energy-efficient measures that reduce bills and cut carbon emissions.
· An End to Section 21 Evictions: Enfield North has one of the highest rates of Section 21 evictions in London. These “no-fault” evictions allow landlords to remove tenants with little warning and no reason given, often leaving families facing the anxiety of sudden homelessness through no fault of their own. Labour is ending this cruel practice. Through our Renters’ Rights Bill, we will abolish Section 21 evictions entirely - giving renters greater security in their homes, protecting families from unfair evictions, and rebalancing the rental market so that it works for tenants as well as landlords.
· Funding For Our Colleges: Enfield College (Conel) and Capel Manor will benefit as part of a £6.5 million government investment to boost green and digital skills training across North London. This significant funding is to develop new state-of-the-art facilities and courses focused on the skills our economy needs for the future. From green technologies to advanced digital training, this investment will help local students and adult learners gain the qualifications needed for well-paid, sustainable jobs.
📢 Working for You: Thousands of Cases, One Community
Over the past year, my office has received 22,906 emails from residents - that’s around 440 every week. It’s a clear sign of how many people turn to us for help, advice, or to share their views on local and national issues.
From urgent personal casework to broader community concerns, the huge range of topics we deal with is reflected in the breakdown below. I’m grateful to everyone who has taken the time to get in touch, and I remain committed to doing everything I can to support our community.
Some of the most common issues we’ve helped with in our Enfield office include:
· 🏠 Housing and Planning
Over 990 cases helping residents facing homelessness, unsafe accommodation, repair delays, and overcrowding.
· 🌍 Asylum, Immigration and International Affairs
Nearly 1,300 cases supporting people with visa issues, fee waivers, delayed applications, and more.
· 🏛️ Justice, Civil Rights and Social Security
Over 1,500 cases helping with benefit reinstatements, DLA and PIP claims, and challenges with pensions or unfair deductions.
· 🌱 Environment, Food and Public Health
Over 900 cases involving pest control, tree management, food safety, and environmental concerns.
A Few Casework Successes
✅ A hospital bed was secured the same day for a resident who had been waiting six weeks for a placement.
✅ A local driver had their work account reinstated after we made representations - allowing them to return to work and support their family.
✅ A constituent received a £10,000 Home Office fee waiver following our appeal, ensuring their right to remain was protected.
✅ A resident left without heating or hot water for nearly three months was awarded compensation after we challenged the local authority’s delay.
✅ A parent struggling to get the right support for their autistic child had their access to psychiatric care and essential medication fast-tracked after our intervention.
Saluting Service on Armed Forces Day
It was an honour to attend this week’s Armed Forces Day parade in Enfield. It was a moment to show our deep respect and gratitude to all who serve and have served, and to their families who sacrifice so much. I was proud to stand alongside our community in saying thank you to the men and women who keep us safe.
👨⚕️The 10 Year Health Plan
This week, we launched our 10-Year Health Plan - a clear, ambitious roadmap to revitalise our NHS and make it fit for the future.
Over the past year, we’ve started to turn things around. Waiting lists are coming down. We’ve recruited 1,700 more GPs to improve access to primary care. We’re investing in cutting-edge technology and beginning to repair our NHS’s ageing estate.
Now, with this long-term plan-shaped by over 270,000 contributions from patients, healthcare staff, and the public-we’re backing real change with £29 billion of additional investment.
The 10-Year Health Plan will deliver three major improvements:
Care closer to home: Moving services out of hospitals and into communities, so patients get help faster and nearer to where they live.
A modern, digital NHS: Making it as easy to book an appointment or manage your care as it is to shop or bank online.
Prevention over cure: Shifting the focus from treating illness to keeping people healthy and making the healthy choice the easy choice.
This plan is about delivering an NHS that works for everyone - now and for generations to come.
💜 A Powerful Moment in Parliament for Women’s Equality 💚
This week in Parliament, we marked 97 years since women won the vote on equal terms with men with a commemorative photocall of women MPs, organised by Centenary Action.
I’m so proud to represent Enfield North as one of the many women continuing this fight for equality, representation, and justice for all.
It was a powerful moment to stand alongside so many incredible women from all parties, recognising the progress we’ve made.
A team of talented Welsh seamstresses created 264 sashes - one for every female MP - to mark 97 years since women won the right to vote on equal terms.
The number on my sash was 497. It’s hard to believe I’m only the 497th woman ever elected to represent a constituency in Parliament. It’s a striking reminder of how recently women gained equal voting rights, and how much work still lies ahead to achieve true equality and representation in our politics.
☕ Join Me for a Coffee Morning in Bullsmoor ☕
My next community coffee morning will take place in Bullsmoor on Saturday 19 July, where I’ll be joined by your local Bullsmoor councillors, Destiny Karakus and Kate Analoe.
These informal events are a great opportunity to have a friendly chat, raise any concerns, and hear more about the work we’re doing to improve life here in Enfield North.
Whether it’s a local issue affecting your street or a broader concern about housing, healthcare, schools or safety, I’m here to listen - and so are my dedicated caseworkers, who’ll be on hand to take up any personal matters on your behalf.
Everyone is welcome, just register your interest here 👉 feryalclark.org.uk/bullsmoor and let’s talk about how we can make Bullsmoor an even better place to live.
I hope to see you there!
